Joe Mettle is Ghana’s Gospel Music Industry Standard— Carl Clottey

Story by: Louisa Kukua Barnes

Urban Gospel Musician, Carl Clottey, has declared fellow gospel musician, Joe Mettle as the standard in the industry.

He added that Mr Mettle’s lifestyle and achievements has become a yardstick for many in the music industry, including him.

“Mr Joe Mettle is the standard in my eyes in terms of the successes he’s chained and the achievements he’s done. If I’m measuring success in terms of Ghanaian artists, it’s either I reach that height or go above it.” He said during an exclusive interview on Max Morning Show.

Mr. Clottey, who is also a dual-nomination holder for the 2027 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) said the current misunderstanding regarding the artist of the year category is a result of the industry’s inability to push for both Piesie Esther and Diana Hamilton, which could have increased the chances of a win for the gospel space.

He added that more opportunities should be given to more artistes as the space is big enough for more talents to thrive.

Speaking on his Annual Calvary worship programme, he said simply making the programme based on recordings does not fully immerse people. As a result, organising this year’s edition seeks to provide an atmosphere filled with God’s presence and healing where people can fully connect with the songs in totality.

This will be the 12th edition of Calvary worship and will feature other prominent ministers such as Paa Sammy, Nana Amoah, Apostle Bernard Yeboah Twumaisi amongst others. It will be held on the 19th April 2026 at the Apostolic Church Ghana, Kaneshie Central district at 4pm.
