Chelsea are receiving a major lift in their injury-hit midfield, with Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo both spotted back in full team training, offering hope for relief in a problem area plagued by fatigue.
Lavia has been building match sharpness over the past couple of weeks, including an appearance for the U21s last week, and is edging closer to first-team involvement.
Essugo joins him in the return to group sessions, with images from yesterday’s training confirming both midfielders are progressing well in their recoveries.
The Blues will handle both players cautiously, given their history of injury issues, easing them back gradually to avoid setbacks. Lavia, in particular, remains a concern after repeated absences, while Essugo’s integration will follow a similar careful path under the medical staff.
Lavia has made only 30 senior appearances since joining from Southampton in 2023, while Essugo continues his adaptation following his summer arrival. Their returns come at a critical time as Chelsea push for consistency in a demanding Premier League and cup schedule.
