‎Wanlov De Kubolor fights the gov’t over galamsey

Date:

Renowned musician Wanlov De Kubolor has called on the government to roll out stringent measures in the fight against galamsey.

‎He reignites the debate in a one-minute freestyle with the trending “WYFL Riddim” featuring Ohemaa Dadao.

In the viral video, Kubolor draws attention to worsening water shortages in parts of Accra, particularly Teshie, and links the crisis to rivers polluted by illegal mining.

He questioned efforts to clamp down on galamsey, suggesting that some government officials were contributing to the problem.

So the galamsey wossop, are you ok with it? “Beh, you know your government officials more. Do they do some?” he sang in Pidgin.

Kubolor also highlighted the health risks of galamsey from contaminated water and the rejection of Ghanaian farm produce by international buyers and also criticised the burning of excavators.

He warned that the act would leave young people jobless and vulnerable to crime while urging the government to introduce sustainable solutions and provide viable, dignified alternatives for the youth.
