Following the recent backlash from critics for not seeking the consent of Wendy Shay before performing her songs at Sista Afia’s 10th Anniversary concert, dancer Tracy Shay, has apologised to her mentor.
The rising star claimed her action was an oversight and promised not to repeat the act again.
In a statement issued by her management and shared on her social media pages, the goddaughter of Wendy Shay admitted that she should have informed her mentor before performing.
The issue of Tracy Shay’s performance was triggered when the girl was seen in Koforidua on the stage organised by Sista Afia, urging fully grown adults to “stand up”, which did not sit down well with Wendy Shay.
The Afrobeat singer then blew the alarm on how parents interfere while their children are being groomed.
When the issue escalated, Sista Afia denied billing Tracy Shay to perform at her concert.
Due to the issues which were fast spreading, with many critics backlashing the young star, Wendy Shay, who was on a trip in Nigeria, did a video to plead with the public on behalf of the child.
She rather blamed the parents of Tracy Shay for the kid’s act, but she reassured them that she would fulfil every obligation and promise she made to the girl by taking care of her tuition “from class five to the university”.
