Famous actor and comedian Emmanuel Appiah, better known by his showbiz name Kwappiah, says many productions are currently shooting movies with their phones due to financial constraints.
According to him, the reach limit imposed on local movies by YouTube has compelled many movie producers to use mobile phones to shoot movies.
Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Thursday, Kwappiah lamented that movie producers have realised that those who were using phones to do production were even getting more eyeballs than theirs, hence their current action.
“You will waste money to do better production work using quality cameras, and at the end of the day, the eyeballs are not encouraging. You only have 1K views, while people who are using phones are getting all the views. That will not encourage you to waste money on quality production,” he lamented.
Though Kwappiah admitted that the current trend of using mobile phones for production work would not develop the industry for a brighter future, the response producers received after uploading their content had been the major contributor to the rise in poor production work.
