Westside Travel CEO Mourns Daddy Lumba: “We’ve Lost a Treasure Beyond Words”

Date:

The Chief Executive Officer of Westside Travel Services, Eric Owusu Agyemang, has paid an emotional tribute to the late music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following his passing on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra. He was 60.

Speaking to Tony Bebli on Saturday All Music on MAX FM, Mr. Owusu Agyemang described Lumba as more than a musical legend, calling him “a father figure, a mentor, and a national treasure whose value words can’t capture.”

“We’ve lost a great treasure—words can’t describe who Lumba was,” Mr. Agyemang said solemnly. “To many of us, he was the soundtrack to our lives. He shaped not just music, but values, love, and identity through his voice.”

As the CEO of Westside Travel Services, Mr. Agyemang leads a dynamic company known for innovation and excellence in the travel and tourism industry. His leadership is anchored in building strategic partnerships and driving growth—but on this occasion, he paused from business to reflect on the personal loss and collective grief felt across the country.

“Lumba’s legacy is irreplaceable. He was a guiding light to many creatives, a silent mentor to countless young musicians, and a man who gave his all to the Ghanaian sound,” he said.

Mr. Agyemang also commended the Fosu family for their grace during this difficult time and urged Ghanaians to honour Lumba’s memory by supporting local music and preserving the cultural heritage he helped build.

The passing of Daddy Lumba has sparked a wave of tributes across Ghana and beyond, with fans, industry stakeholders, and leaders celebrating the life and work of a man widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest highlife artists.

A book of condolence has been opened at his residence in Accra, with a candlelight vigil set for Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square, under the auspices of the Creative Arts Agency. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
