WAFCON 2024: Nigeria sends sound warning to South Africa

Date:

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has warned South Africa’s Banyana Banyana that Nigeria is determined to win the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.

Okoronkwo issued the warning ahead of both sides’ WAFCON semi-final tie on Tuesday evening.

“The fact that we want to win the tournament is a great motivation to bring the trophy back to Nigeria,” Okoronkwo said at her pre-match interview.

“We go into every game with the same mentality to want to win, regardless of what is in front of us. We are prepared and ready to win tomorrow.

“We’re not really looking at the other team’s stats; we just focus on us and what we’re going to do tomorrow.”

South Africa defeated Nigeria via a penalty shoot-out in the 2022 edition.
