Veteran musician, Kofi Debrah has threatened a legal action against his backing vocalist who has uploaded all his songs on streaming platforms without his consent.
Nana Ama, the backing vocalist who uploaded all the songs she backed is believed to have been making money from the songs and has denied the rightful owner his creative benefits.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max Drive in Accra on Friday, Kofi Debrah known for his smash hit “Apuskeleke” stated that Nana Ama has denied him his creative benefits to his own songs.
”Because we the old musicians have limited education and are not well versed with the new technology and the social media, my backing vocalist, Nana Ama has uploaded all my songs on all the streaming platforms.”
”To make matters worse, she claimed she featured me and Samini but Samini gains his benefit. Based on how she did it, my side appears blank or like a ghost, a purported effort by her to deprive me of my shares,” he lamented.
Kofi Debrah said he had made an arrangement to meet Nana Ama who is currently in the United Kingdom to give him his rightful share, otherwise he would take legal action against her.
”It’s not only me that she has done that to. All the musicians she backed including Okomfour Kwadee, VIP among others, she had uploaded their songs to make money.”
”I am now making an arrangement to meet her in the UK. If I don’t get my rightful share, I will sue her because I paid her when she backed my songs,” he added.
