Hearts invites New Edubiase to resolve $70k debt

Date:

The Executive Supervisory Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Akwasi Agyeman, has called for a meeting with the executive board of New Edubiase United to resolve issues ensuing between both clubs.

News broke of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s transfer ban on Hearts of Oak over their debt to the Access Bank Division One League club New Edubiase United on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Hearts owe a whopping amount of $70,000 to the Division One side after having agreed to a $120,000 deal for the transfer of midfielder Salim Adams to the Accra-based club.

The Phobians paid $50,000 of $120,000 but failed to honour the payment terms of the balance, defaulting over the period, which forced New Edubiase to report them to the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA.

According to Alex Ackumey, Chief Executive Officer of New Edubiase, following the GFA’s decision to ban the defaulting club, Hearts of Oak, under its disciplinary regulations, Akwasi Agyemang reached out for a meeting on Monday, June 23, 2025, to find a resolution to the issue.

Mr Ackumey also disclosed on Max FM’s Sports Pack show that Hearts failed to commit to their gentleman’s agreement to pay just $20,000 within two days, as New Edubiase wrote off $50,000 of the $70,000 as bad debt.

Hearts will have no choice but to pay the amount owed if they intend to achieve success in the coming seasons, especially with the appointment of top coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as their gaffer.
