Accra Noise-Making Ban 2025 Begins May 12, Ends June 12

Date:

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that the Accra noise-making ban 2025 will be enforced from Monday, May 12 to Thursday, June 12, 2025.

The annual directive, aligned with the Ga Traditional Council’s Nmaa Dumↄ observance, aims to promote peace, harmony, and respect for traditional customs.

In a press release signed by Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Affairs, the AMA urged all residents, especially religious and social groups, to strictly adhere to the guidelines.

Key directives during the ban:

  • Churches must conduct services indoors and avoid using musical instruments.

  • Loudspeakers outside churches, mosques, and pubs are strictly prohibited.

  • Roadside evangelism must cease throughout the period.

  • Funeral ceremonies and related activities are not permitted during the ban.

The AMA further called for mutual respect between religious and traditional leaders, cautioning against inflammatory or derogatory comments about other faiths.

Enforcement will be managed by a designated task force comprising AMA officials, the Ghana Police Service, and Traditional Council representatives. Mr. Ankrah emphasized that:

“Only this identifiable task force, wearing official tags, is authorized to enforce the noise ban. No other individuals or groups are permitted to do so.”
