We win together, lose together – Otto Addo

Date:

Head Coach and former player of the Black Stars of Ghana, Otto Addo, called for unity in supporting the team through thick and thin.

Putting behind an unfortunate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification experience resulting in Ghana’s failure to qualify for tournament since 2004, the country heads into a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Chad.

Engaging with the media in a pre-match conference at the Accra Sports Stadium, Otto Addo, passionately shared that each and every Ghanaian fan must be into the qualifiers together.

“First of all, surely I think I’m the head coach. We are in this together. It’s not only about me. When we win, we all win and when we lose, we all lose,” the former Borussia Dortmund tactician said.

Acknowledging his team’s bane was their inability to score many goals during the AFCON qualifiers, he shouldered the blame, but assured that together as a team, and with their increased self belief, fortunes may turn in their favor.

“I really like to say sorry, especially in the games (AFCON qualifiers); everyone saw what was missing was the goals. And for this, it is about playing together.

It’s about creating lots of chances, even though we gave the guys (the Black Stars) the belief. This I’m responsible for,” he added.

Ghana’s game against Chad will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025.
