Our system never favored the Efiewura series — Koo Fori

Date:

Actor Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, known widely as Koo Fori, has attributed the collapse of Efiewura, a comedy teleseries, to the unworking system of the country.

According to him, the system laid out did not help producers and directors to shoot the Efiewura series.

Speaking in an interview with Max TV on Thursday, Koo Fori stated that it got to a point that the show had only one sponsor, and TV3, which was airing the series, took about 5,000 before telecasting it.

“We had our own sponsors, but it got to a point that TV3 was charging 5,000, and the sponsors found it quite expensive, so they pulled back. Later, it was left with one sponsor,” he said.

Koo Fori indicated that it got to a point that the actors were not paid for their roles, and they purely did a sacrificial job just to see the series being aired for viewers.

“When we shoot at far-off places, the director will only give us transport fares or money for fuel. We purely did a sacrificial job,” he added.

Koo Fori shot down claims that the actors in the series later became demanding and were not willing to come on set.

He further blamed the invasion of telenovelas on the country’s screens and how TV3 intentionally used the Efiewura belt to project their own agenda targeting viewers the local teleseries had garnered.

Koo Fori expressed concern about how the local stations failed to support their own and preferred investing in foreign content.
