SAS Invites 21 2009 U-20 World Cup Winners for Investment Cheques

Date:

The SAS Finance Group has officially notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to extend invitations to the 21 players of the Black Satellites, the 2009 U-20 World Cup winning team, to collect their investment cheques.

This comes after the maturity of a 15-year investment made on behalf of the team by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which reached maturity on January 4, 2025.

The invitation, addressed to the GFA General Secretary and copied to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, informs the players that the total investment of GHc210,000 (GHc10,000 per player) is now available for collection. Players can collect their cheques from the SAS Office in Accra starting January 8, 2025.

To collect their cheques, players must present a valid Ghana Card. If a player cannot collect their cheque in person, they can authorize a third party with a notarized Power of Attorney.

The SAS Office is located on the 14th floor of the World Trade Centre, Independence Avenue, Accra. In addition to the investment, each player was covered by an annual life and health insurance policy throughout the 15-year period.

The 2009 Black Satellites’ U-20 World Cup victory remains a historic achievement for Ghana, marking the country’s first and only U-20 World Cup title.
