UEFA WCL: Chelsea maintain perfect start, Real Madrid beat Celtic

Date:

Chelsea maintained their three-point lead at the top of Women’s Champions League Group B with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Dutch side Twente.

In an entertaining first half which featured five goals, Chelsea took the lead after just two minutes thanks to a piece of individual brilliance from Caterina Macario.

Kayleigh van Dooren blasted the resulting penalty beyond the reach of Zecira Musovic, to bring her side level.

Chelsea immediately restored their advantage through Oriane Jean-Francois before capitalising on a sloppy defending from Twente to extend their lead to 4-1 by half-time through Mayra Ramirez.

Substitute Sjoeke Nusken put the result beyond all doubt immediately after the break with a glancing header from close range, before a well-struck 85th minute volley from Eve Perisset.

In Glasgow, Scotland, Celtic suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in the Women’s Champions League as Signe Bruun’s double set up victory for Real Madrid.
