Socialite and singer Deborah Vanessa, known by her stage name Sister Derby, says she returned to Ghana after she couldn’t get a job in the United Kingdom when she completed her masters degree.
She recalled that during that time there was resection in the UK, thus only citizens were being employed.
Sister Derby stated in an interview that she sought after many jobs and even registered at job recruiting agencies, yet she never had a job.
“I told my professor, and she explained that there was a resection in the UK, so they were employing citizens first,” she explained.
That, Sister Derby said, compelled her to return to Ghana, and she fortunately had a job at the air waves.
Her testament suggests that schooling in a developed country did not guarantee a sustainable job, highlighting the need for Ghanaians who were struggling in foreign lands to return home for better fortune.
