2024-25 GPL WRAP: Accra Lions win, Kotoko held in Berekum, as Hearts keeps clean sheet

Accra Lions kicked off matchday five of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League with a statement-making 3-1 victory over defending MTN FA Cup champions Nsoatreman FC on Sunday.

Abdul Rahman halved the deficit for Yaw Preko’s Nsoatreman FC after Faris Tahiru and Ezekiel Alladoh had given the home side a 2-0 win before Blessing Asumang sealed the win.

At Berekum on Sunday, Asante Kotoko’s third-minute lead through Kyei Dwamena was cancelled out by captain of the home side Fuseini Zakaria on the hour mark to hand Samuel Boadu’s Berekum Chelsea a point.

Heart of Lions remain unbeaten and placed 4th in the league standings as Bibiani GoldStars held Bashiru Hayford’s side to a goalless draw.

An own-goal from Bechem United secured a vital 1-0 win over Dreams FC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday.

Samuel Anim’s Young Apostles bagged a remarkable 3-2 comeback win over Aduana Stars at Wenchi on Sunday afternoon.

The away side enjoyed a 2-1 lead after Mohammed Moftaw had given Apostles a 22nd lead before restoring parity and scoring the winner in the second half.

Hadi Mohammed’s debut goal sealed a perfect away win for Karela United after Ibrahim Giyas had given the traveling side a first half lead against Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon, Accra.

Current league champions FC Samartex bagged their first win of the season thanks to Michael Ephson’s strike to deliver all three points for the home side against Vision FC.

Kamaradini and Diwiasie Taylor stunned Basake Holy Stars away at their own home grounds to move Medeama to top spot.
