2025 AFCON Q: We should have been more egoistic – Otto Addo

Date:

The loss to Angola in the opener of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers was a hard pill for the Black Stars of Ghana to take.

Otto Addo, head coach of the team, believed they should have been “a little bit egoistic” during the game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday night.

“Surely, we have to be more clinical. I saw a lot of situations where we could have shot earlier, we should have been a little bit more egoistic. Even though I don’t like if a player has a better position and you don’t give him the ball, I don’t like it. But this game, I think there was a lot of situations where we could have taken shots and we passed to the next one, passed to the next one,” he said in the post-match presser.

The Black Stars ended the game with eighteen shots to Angola’s eleven while having fifty-eight percent of the ball possession to their opponent’s forty-two.

Milson’s fortuitous goal in the 93rd minute ensured they moved to the first position on the Group F table, level on points with Sudan.
