Politics can’t resurrect my career – Prince David

Date:

Actor Prince David Osei has refuted claims that his participation in the political campaign of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is motivated by money and a quest to revamp after his career died.

He said his support for the NPP is a personal decision, not driven by monetary incentives as many believed.

Prince David, who had been campaigning since 2016 for the party, was spotted on his social handles criticizing the government for the current economic hardship and some policies that were not in line with developmental growth.

Many had believed his speeches against the government would deter him from participating in any campaign, but he got mouths agape when he was seen endorsing the flag bearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, during the manifesto launch in Takoradi in the Western Region.

In response to claims that his political engagement was due to a decline in his acting career in a recent interview, Prince David dismissed the rumors and tagged it as baseless.

“I have been filming outside Ghana. My recent movie, ‘Letter to Goddo,’ has been nominated for the Toronto Film Festival. So, if somebody tells me I’m doing politics because my career is dead, then that person is a joke,” he said.

Prince David explained that no one offered him money to participate in political campaigns and was only campaigning because it was his civic duty to support a particular party and politician with good hindsight for the development of the country.

“People also have the perception that maybe it’s money. No. You can’t judge everybody and how they live. I’m not doing it for money or recognition or whatever. Nobody has given me any money for politics,” he added.
