Black Stars’ Physical Trainer Romeo Ricky Roy Dies

Date:

Romeo Ricky Roy, the beloved physical trainer of Ghana’s Black Stars, has sadly passed away. While details surrounding his death remain limited, it is confirmed that he passed away on Sunday, April 28, in Accra, following his expression of feeling unwell.

Roy’s heroic actions in 2020, when he saved a player’s life during a Division One League match, catapulted him into the limelight and earned him a spot in the Black Stars’ staff in 2021.

Throughout his tenure, he closely collaborated with Milovan Rajevac during his second stint as the team’s head coach.

Roy’s contributions were invaluable, particularly in overseeing the team’s physical training sessions during the World Cup 2022 in Qatar and the AFCON 2023 in Abidjan.

His untimely passing is deeply mourned by the Ghanaian football community, and his absence will be keenly felt by colleagues and players alike.
