#AfricanGames2023: Watch how Ghana pipped Nigeria for gold

Date:

The Black Princesses of Ghana produced a hard-fought and much-deserving victory over the Super Falconets of Nigeria 2-1 to clinch gold at the women’s football event of the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.

The Falconets opened the scoring through Loveth Edeh in the 23rd minute in a grueling tie that ended after 120 minutes.

Ghana’s one of many outstanding players in the games so far, Tracy Twum, scored once again to bring her side level after recess to send the game into extra time.

Just when you think the match couldn’t get any more dramatic, in step Hasaacas Ladies forward Mukurama Abdulai, who had come under a lot of pressure from the Cape Coast fans, scored the winner in the first half of the extra time to send the fans into frenzy.

Despite their fightback, the Nigerians were dethroned as U-20 champions at the African Games.
