#FreedomMonth: Ghanaians who benefited from independence are not patriotic – Naa Ju Yoo Wor Borlor Jwerteer

Date:

The Ga traditional leader of La Agbawe Kplan has expressed disappointment in all Ghanaians who enjoyed the investment of Ghana since independence and did little to imbibe the spirit of patriotism in their wards.

According to her, their descendants are living lavishly without them thinking of helping develop the country.

Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Monday, Mannye Tsofayelor, Naa Ju Yoo Wor Borlor Jwerteer, lamented that “our” forefathers, who were mostly farmers and fishmongers, raised their children as elites for them to secure better positions in government.

After the sacrifices they made in the attainment of independence, the children invested their resources to gain a quality education in an attempt to make them responsible individuals rather than selfish.

She said the children secured positions in governance and gave birth but failed to teach their young ones ethics and patriotism.

“Now those crop of people who benefited from Ghana and even ate chicken and goats in the universities became hostel managers and held the realm of affairs.

How did they manage Ghana for our lives to be as they are now? After that, they flew their children, who benefited immensely from the country, overseas without imbibing into them the spirit of patriotism,” Naa Ju Yoo Wor Borlor Jwerteer lamented.

She insisted that those Ghanaians who were in their 60s and 80s were really disappointed and had brought the country down.

“They did not think about the development of the country and are even willing to sell the country for riches. They want to be richer than the country,” Naa Ju Yoo Wor Borlor Jwerteer added.

In moving forward, she charged the current generation to teach and imbibe the spirit of patriotism in their children for them to work in the interest of Ghana.

Mannye Tsofayelor stated that there was no essence to shopping malls if the country was not into production.

She expressed the need for the country to manufacture and produce its own goods without importing them to create sustainable jobs and opportunities for the youth, all geared towards developing the country.
