#MaxNews: GIS to rescue more than 200 Ghanaians stranded in Cote d’Ivoire

Date:

According to Rickey Nana Yaw Boakye, the assistant superintendent of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), more than 200 Ghanaians are stranded in Cote d’Ivoire.

These Ghanaians are alleged victims of the fraudulent online scheme, Q-Net.

ASI Boakye says there is a collaboration between the Sampa Command and the neighboring country, La Cote d’Ivoire, to return these Ghanaians.

It was reported that 200 people who happened to be victims were brought back home with the support of security agencies through the Ghana-Cote D’voire border in the Jaman North District of the region that was stated.

“Now as we speak, about 200 of the victims are locked up in a room in Ivory Coast, and they are not allowed to go out,” ASI Boakye said at a stakeholder meeting organized by ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an NGO at Abesim near Sunyani.

ASI Boakye advised the youth to use the appropriate measures for legal documentation by going to the GIS if they want to travel.
