Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for Al Nassr, has been given a one-game suspension after he seemed to make an offensive gesture after their 3-2 victory over Al Shabab.
The Saudi Football Federation’s (SAFF) Disciplinary and Ethics Committee confirmed this on Wednesday.
After the final whistle, Ronaldo cupped his ear and then repeatedly pumped his hand forward in front of his pelvic area, pointing at the Al Shabab fans after they taunted him by chanting Lionel Messi’s name.
The Portugal captain has been penalized 10,000 Saudi riyals ($2,666), according to the committee. He will pay the fines to the Saudi Football Federation and Al Shabab, along with 20,000 riyals to cover the expense of registering the complaint.
