#MaxEntertainment: Be open minded to embrace new talents – Lyrical Joe to Ghanaians

Date:

Talented rapper Joseph Gamor, known in showbiz circles as Lyrical Joe, has urged Ghanaians to be open-minded and embrace new talents.

According to him, many Ghanaians are cult-following, and it is hard for young artists to gain complete acceptance once they make an entry into the industry.

Speaking in an interview with Max.com.gh in Accra on Tuesday, Lyrical Joe indicated that other countries and their markets were open to new talents, unlike Ghana, which had made the road narrow for the young artistes.

“Unlike the market out there their ears and eyes are opened for a new talent. Let them come out and are ready to support them, but here we have a cult following, so everyone has their fan base and who is following them. Unless, maybe… you are coming under those people before that person’s fans could support you,” he said.

The “Enter” crooner stated that this has made many young talents do extra jobs of handpicking their own followers to create their own army before they could get the support to sell their music.

Talking about what he did differently, Lyrical Joe said he created his own niche to sell his music.

“Basically, I grew my own fanbase! Good enough for me; they are open-minded people, and they like to support others too,” he added.

Lyrical Joe urged musicians to work hard and pray for grace, noting that doing the right thing in the industry could help them excel.

LJ has been in the industry for close to a decade. He has three albums and won Best Rap Performance at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Currently, he released his debut single of the year, Enter, which featured Kuami Eugene. He is also known for songs including Judas and Road to 5th August.
