Ghana Black Stars captain Andre Morgan Ayew is set to make his eighth AFCON tournament appearance.
He has missed just one tournament (2013) since his home debut in Ghana in 2008.
Ayew’s eighth tournament appearance will be a record among the greats.
The Ghana skipper is just three games shy of becoming the African player with the most games played in the history of the African Cup of Nations.
The current record belongs to Cameroon coach Rigobert Song [36].

Ahmed Hassan played 32 games. (retired).
Seydou Keita played 31 games. (retired)
The other players in the top 10 of most Afcon matches played have retired.
