Prophet Owusu Agyei arrested for threatening to kill EC boss

Date:

Self-styled preacher, Prophet Kwabena Owusu Agyei, has been arrested by state security men after he was seen in a viral video threatening President Akufo-Addo and the Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson Jean Mensa.

Prophet Owusu Agyei was arrested by plain clothed security men on Tuesday morning during a live interview on an Accra-based FM station.

The Prophet, during a Church Service on Facebook live on Sunday, issued a warning to the EC boss to stop the compilation of the new register.

Prophet Owusu Agyei threatened that if the EC goes ahead with the voters’ registration, the Electoral Commissioner will die, adding that Ghana will not allow a small family to dictate to the nation.

While warning President Akufo-Addo  notto  open the borders for prospective runaways, he said

“Let me tell them (Akyems) something, on June 4 people were crying let the blood flow, it was only military people whose blood flowed.Today as I hear the let the blood flow, it is the blood of the Akyem Mafia that will flow… I saw Akyem Kyebi palace, I saw it on fire and people were saying let the blood flow,”

“I’m telling Jean Mensa today… If Jean Mensa thinks she was not born of a woman but came from some other angle, she should go ahead and do the new register. She will die at 12 midday. She will die just like that. Nonsense! Idiot! You’re an idiot Jean Mensa… Stupid Akufo-Addo girl…” Prophet Owusu Agyei angrily said.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that the decision not to include the existing voter’s Identification Card (ID) in its upcoming registration exercise is due to  the Supreme Court itself holding a view  that the register is reasonably not credible and that by implication, the cards issued pursuant to it are also reasonably not credible.
