UEFA CL 2023/24: Tuesday fixtures review

Date:

Max Online brings you a review of Tuesday’s fixtures of the UEFA Champions League.

Alexander Isak’s goal in the 24th minute broke the deadlock, and Newcastle seem to be headed for second place in Group F heading into their last match.

However, Tino Livramento was mysteriously found to have handled the ball, and Kylian Mbappe scored for PSG in the seventh minute of added time.

Erling Haaland’s goal against RB Leipzig, which helped Manchester City defeat them 3-2 at the Ettihad Stadium, turned him the fastest player in Champions League history to reach 40 goals.

With five wins out of five in Group G, Pep Guardiola’s team is getting closer to the round of 16.

Barcelona defeated Porto and earned a spot in the Champions League round of 16 by coming back from a goal down.

After 30 minutes, Pepe scored on a rebound to give the Portuguese visitors the lead, and Joao Cancelo tied the score with a spectacular curling shot after cutting in from the left before Joao Felix scored the game’s winning goal in the 56th minute.

Borussia Dortmund defeated AC Milan at the San Siro to advance to the Champions League’s round of 16.

After Milan’s Olivier Giroud had an early penalty saved, Marco Reus opened Dortmund’s account with a goal from the penalty spot four minutes later.

Before the half, Samuel Chukwueze scored to restore parity. However, in the second half, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens gave the German team their lead back, and Karim Adeyemi’s goal sealed the victory.

After a late double from substitute Ciro Immobile deprived Brendan Rodger’s Celtic team a worthy draw with Lazio, as their chances of qualifying for Europe were dashed.

Mykola Matviyenko’s glancing header, gave Shakhtar Donetsk a 1-0 victory over Royal Antwerp on Tuesday, maintaining their hopes of securing a Champions League last-16 position.

With a commanding performance, Atlético Madrid defeated Feyenoord, the Dutch champions, 3-1 in their own stadium to guarantee their spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout phase.

In their penultimate Group G match, Young Boys defeated Red Star 2-0 to earn a spot in the Europa League.5
