ENGLISH WSL: Anita Asante inducted into WSL Hall of Fame

Date:

Anita Ama Ankyewah Asante, 38, has been inducted into England’s Women’s Super League Hall of Fame alongside former international teammates Jill Scott and Ellen White.

Asante was capped 71 times for the Lionesses as she won five WSL titles and four FA Cups with Arsenal.

The English-born Ghanaian was part of the famous Arsenal side to win the UEFA Women’s Cup in the historic 2006–07 quadruple-winning season.

She joined Chelsea the following year, where she made 11 appearances before moving to the United States to continue her career.

In 2012, she was part of the Great Britain team at the London Olympics that reached the last eight stages of the football discipline.

She became the first team coach of Bristol City in 2022, in the Women’s Championship, leading them to promotion to the top league.
