BLACK STARS: Asamoah Gyan retires from football at age 37

Asamoah Gyan, also known as “Baby Jet,” has announced his retirement from football at the age of 37.

Gyan’s contributions to the Ghanaian national team have been remarkable. He made 109 appearances for Ghana and scored 51 goals, making him Ghana’s all-time top scorer. He is also Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup.

Throughout his career, Gyan achieved several notable accolades. In 2010, he was named the BBC African Footballer of the Year. Additionally, he was the top scorer in the AFC Champions League in 2014 and received the AFC Best Foreign Player award in the same year.

Gyan’s international career included participation in various prestigious tournaments. He represented Ghana in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competitions.

Asamoah Gyan’s retirement marks the end of an era for Ghanaian football, and he is undoubtedly regarded as a legend in the sport.
