Celtic coach, Ange Postecoglu has been named the new manager of Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club. Spurs confirmed the news on Tuesday morning in a tweet.
Tottenham has been hunting for a manager since the sacking of Italian, Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini. Ryan Mason took over as an interim coach till the end of the 2022/23 English Premier League season.
Postecoglu becomes the first Australian to manage in the English Premier League. The former South Melbourne Hellas defender won four caps for Australia from 1985 to 1988.
He took charge as coach of the Socceroos at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and won the Asian Cup in 2015. The Athens-born coach qualified Australia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup before resigning two weeks to the World showpiece to manage Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. In the summer of 2021, he joined Scottish giants, Celtic, where he won six trophies in two seasons.
