Black Galaxies defeat to Madagascar: Big teams lose their opening games – Annor Walker

Date:

Annor Walker, the head coach of the Black Galaxies, is unconcerned by his team’s loss to Madagascar and maintains that big teams typically lose their opening games in competitions.

The Black Galaxies’ 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) campaign got off to a losing start when they were defeated 2-1 by Madagascar.

While some Ghanaians are concerned about the dismal start, Annor Walker argued that the Black Galaxies are still in the game and that losing first games is common.

“Such things happen in football. It happens in competitions that big teams lose their opening games. We may have lost but we are certainly not out of the competition yet,” he added.

But he acknowledged that his teammates had failed him.

“I think my boys disappointed me in the first half and I take it as one of those things that happen in football. We were well prepared for this game, but minor mistakes cost us the game,” said a dejected Walker after the game.

After Morocco withdrew, Ghana would have to defeat Sudan on January 19 and hope that Sudan’s match against Madagascar went well in order to proceed.
