In a WBO world title fight on April 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe of Ghana, a super bantamweight boxer who has already won one world championship, will face Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) had ordered Dogboe to compete against Mark Magsayo in a featherweight title eliminator, but the fighter decided to pursue the WBO crown instead.
The 28-year-old declared his preparedness to win the 126-pound class and become a two-time world champion during a press conference to announce the match.
“It is the perfect time for me to get this opportunity to become a two-time world champion and I can’t wait to take it.
“Ramirez is a tough customer; I have to admit to that. Looking at how far he has come, he will give everything to become a champion, but I am determined to stop him,” he said.
Since suffering two straight defeats at the hands of Emanuel Navarrete, Isaac Dogboe has not lost a match. The Ghanaian boxer has a record of 24 wins, 2 defeats, and 15 knockouts.
Ramirez, his rival, won two gold medals at the Olympics in the flyweight division—one in London in 2012 and the other in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
