Andre Ayew: It’s a great feeling to be part of the World Cup

Date:

The captain of Ghana, Andre Ayew, claims that the team has moved past the disappointment they felt in 2018 after missing out on World Cup qualification.

The four-time African champions were expecting to make a fourth appearance at the World Cup after competing in 2006, 2010, and 2014 in Germany, South Africa, and Brazil, respectively.

Ghana competed in a group with Uganda, Congo, and Egypt but was unable to advance.

With seven points after six games throughout the qualifications, the Black Stars came in third.

Otto Addo, however, has orchestrated Ghana’s comeback to the international stage after the country qualified against Nigeria during a two-legged game.

In an interview, the Al Sadd attacker reaffirmed that everyone on the team is pleased to be back in Qatar for the World Cup.

He claims that they are focused and unconcerned about missing out on the event being held in Russia.

“We couldn’t be any prouder or happier to be back on the world stage,” he told Fifa.com.

“All of us know what a big deal this is for people worldwide.

“I feel that now we’re back, at long last, we’ve put the disappointment of 2018 behind us,” he added.

Ghana, who wrapped up their preparations with a 2-0 victory over Switzerland, is anticipated to arrive in Qatar later today.

The Black Stars were placed in Group H with Uruguay, South Korea, Portugal, and the host nation.

The biggest tournament in the world’s history will begin its 22nd edition on November 20 and run through December 18.
