Alfred Schreuder, the head coach of Ajax, has received praise from Mohammed Kudus for providing him the self-assurance to play as a main striker.
For the Dutch powerhouses throughout the current campaign, the Ghanaian striker has been leading the line.
This season, Kudus has received extensive use as a primary striker, and he has responded by tallying four goals in six UEFA Champions League group stage contests.
The 22-year-old earned the Man of the Match Award after helping Ajax defeat Rangers 3-1 with a goal and an assist.
Kudus highlighted Schreuder’s crucial contribution when discussing his healthy return to goal scoring this season (10 goals in 18 games across all competitions), saying,
“The coach has given me confidence as a striker and I score,” the former FC Nordsjaelland forward told Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf.
That’s what he expects from a striker and that’s also the reason I haven’t played as a shadow striker yet,” he added.
Kudus has played a total of 17 times for Ajax, scoring nine goals in all competitions.
He is anticipated to be included on Ghana’s World Cup roster for Qatar in 2022.
