Agyemang Badu: USA sent scouts to spy on Ghana players 6 months to 2014 World Cup

Date:

Agyemang Badu, a former member of the Black Stars, has disclosed that the USA dispatched scouts to observe roughly 60 players before the 2014 World Cup even got underway.

According to Agyemang Badu, the USA dispatched scouts to spy on Ghanaian players they knew would be in the Black Stars World Cup squad immediately before the 2014 World Cup draw.

Agyemang Badu said six months before the 2014 World Cup, the Americans who were in Ghana’s group, had access to all of the Black Stars players’ personal information.

“In 2014 before we went for the World Cup, the USA had the data of all our players six months to the tournament. They had all our data getting to 60 players,” Badu said.

The former Udinese player stated that it was during a Serie A league game against Sassuolo that he learned about the scouts.

“During our match against Sassuolo when I was at Udene, there was a scout there watching the match,” the former Black Stars player said.

He added, “They had selected some players they knew no matter what these 26 players who be part of the World Cup squad.”

In the 2014 World Cup match, USA defeated Ghana 2-1, with Clint Dempsey scoring the game’s first goal in just over a minute. In the 82nd minute, Andre Ayew scored to tie the score, but John Brooks scored the game-winning goal in the 86th.
