Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, has expressed remorse for his failure to qualify the team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Despite having a wealth of talent at his disposal, he became the first Ghanaian coach since 2004 to achieve such monumental and disgraceful failure.
Ghana under Otto Addo during the qualifiers lost three times, drew three times, and won none.
While addressing furious Ghanaian journalists after the Black Stars suffered their second home defeat, this time to Niger, the former Dortmund assistant acknowledged his wrongs and apologized.
“I am ready to apologise. I am so sorry that we did not do well and qualify. I am sorry because I know how it feels and how Ghanaians are hurt. I am so sorry,” Otto Addo said.
Though Ghanaian fans are bitter about failing to qualify, they are relieved it happened rather than going to the competition and enduring yet another disappointing showing.
