The captain of the Palancas Negras of Angola, Fredy Ribeiro, has expressed belief in his side’s ability to cause an upset by beating the Black Stars in Kumasi.
Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Ribeiro, a forward for Turkish club Eyüpspor, spoke to the press in Angola after their third training session.
Though acknowledging the strength of the Black Stars of Ghana, he insisted his team could come out of Thursday’s game victorious.
“Ghana are a very strong team. They have not been playing as well as they have in recent times, but we played against them recently, and we know that at any moment this turnaround can happen. So we have to be aware of that, but we also believe in our ability,” he said.
The Angolans departed for Kumasi with a 75-man delegation on Tuesday at 13:00 hours GMT to take on Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
