Fenerbache star Alexander Djiku could miss Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Niger and Angola in the coming days after suffering an injury in the Turkish Super League.
The Ghanaian international was in action for Fenerbache on Sunday evening as they traveled away to face Trabzonspor in what turned out to be a heated encounter, which ended in a 2-3 victory for the visitors.
Former Manchester United Brazilian midfielder Fred gave Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbache the lead three minutes before halftime.
The game took a drastic turn after Alexander Djiku and a Trabzonspor attacker slammed into each other in the 53rd minute, resulting in a penalty for the home team, and the Black Stars defender limping off in a sight of worry for Ghanaians.
Banza equalized for the home team and scored again from the same spot in the 67th minute after Djiku’s defensive partner Soyuncu was penalized for a late challenge.
Ghanaian fans would be anxious to find out the extent of Djiku’s injury, as the Black Stars would need their best players fit for the Angola game in Luanda on Friday, November 15, and Niger in Accra on Monday, November 18.
