The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League will commence on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and conclude on May 23/24, 2026.
The fixture calendar has been strategically aligned with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026. This ensures domestic competitions conclude in time for the global tournament.
According to the GFA, this scheduling is part of efforts to maintain a well-structured and competitive football season, in line with the FIFA international match calendar. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to operating within the global framework for all Member Associations.
The GFA Congress is slated for August 12, 2025, after which full preparations for the new season will be finalized.
League matches will continue to be played primarily on weekends, with midweek slots allocated for outstanding games to reduce fixture congestion and maintain competitive integrity.
Defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars SC will aim to retain their crown, while Techiman Eleven Wonders, Swedru All Blacks United, and Hohoe United FC prepare to make their mark after impressive promotion campaigns from the Access Bank Division One League.
