2022/2023 GPL Wk 17: Karela United beats Kotoku Royals 2-1

On Sunday, February 12 2023 at CAM Park, Karela United defeated Kotoku Royals 2-1 to get back on the winning track. Kotoku Royals were in danger of being relegated.

The team led by Kharim Ayeh took the lead after just 12 minutes as Shaibu Tanko’s team attempted to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to Gold Stars at Dun’s Park.

The home team’s celebrations were cut short six minutes later when Richard Dzikoe of the Royals equalized.

In the 35th minute, Karela was given a penalties, which Evans Adomako successfully scored to give them the advantage once more.

The score was 2-1 as the two teams entered the break.

No goals were scored in the second half as Karela maintained their goal differential to win the game 3-1 at home.

After the victory, The Pride and Passion are 2 points above the danger zone. The Kotoku Royals haven’t moved up in the League standings.
