2 Custom officers and 2 other public officials accused of corruption

Date:

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reported of corruption on four public officials exposed after internal investigations and a High Court ruling.

These officials, namely, John Abban, Issah Seidu, James Keck Osei, and Peter Archibald Hyde, have been accused of hijacking ten containers of rice.

The accused persons, led by Issah Seidu, claimed possession of the containers filled with rice bags from Thailand in 2022 using fake documents and a false letter from the office of then Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Seidu reportedly connived with a former Director at the Vice President’s Secretariat and Customs officials — Peter Archibald and John Abban — to hijack the containers from the original importer at the Tema Port and tried selling them.
