Julius Dacosta, a talented gospel musician who used to sing hiplife/hip hop songs has revealed that writing gospel song is difficult than writing secular music.
Known by his stage name Mighty J, the singer noted that gospel music writing requires one to be quickened to God’s spirit and word while being more crafty in the composition.
He said this during an interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday.
“For me it is difficult to write gospel songs because everything is about ‘Jesus-Jesus.’ So what is there to write again? Unlike writing my Hiplife and Hip-hop, that one, it is very easy for me to put words together,” he said.
The musician who has transitioned his music from secular to gospel said gospel music was more intellectual and an art to touch the hearts of God’s children with the gospel which were more inspirational and divinely driven.
Talking about his unique accent and delivery, he said he was told by music producer Kaywa to maintain his Nigerian accent as that would create a unique market for him.
Mighty J has released his maiden solo music dubbed “Overload” following his departure from the “Double J” music group several years ago.
It is also his first commercial song for the year 2024, paving the way for more music to be released.
He urged Ghanaians to look forward to an upcoming album, which Mighty J hopes to release in 2025 and should stream his songs which were available on all digital platforms.
