We will make flood victims proud— Jordan Ayew

Date:

The Black Stars of Ghana are aiming to bring smiles back on the faces of those affected by last Monday’s devastating floods.

Thousands of residents in some parts of Accra suffered the adverse effects of a heavy downpour on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Lives and properties were lost as videos of the heartbreaking scenes of the floods went viral across the world.

Jordan Ayew, captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, told reporters that he and a number of his teammates have somehow been affected too.

Either friends or some relatives of the Ghanaian players are reeling from the losses after the floods.

“Even for me personally, I have friends here and there, and so do the boys as well; everyone is aware,” Ayew said.

He added that the team are going to fight to make Ghanaians proud on Saturday, when they take on Colombia in a round of 32 encounter.

“So, we know what is at stake tomorrow. We do know. And obviously it’s a motivation for us to make our people proud and to take Ghana to the next level,” he added.
