Callum Hudson-Odoi’s decisive goal ended Nottingham Forest’s 55-year wait for a league win at Anfield, giving Liverpool their first defeat under new manager Arne Slot.
Hudson-Odoi, who came off the bench, netted the only goal in the 72nd minute with a curling shot that ricocheted in off the post, capping off a swift counter-attack by Forest.
Liverpool nearly took the lead earlier when Luis Diaz’s shot struck the base of the post in the first half. Despite this, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Forest side managed to hold off Liverpool, who delivered a lackluster performance.
The loss breaks Liverpool’s winning streak, which had included impressive victories over Ipswich Town, Brentford, and Manchester United. Liverpool now trails Manchester City by three points at the top of the Premier League table, while Forest, still unbeaten in the 2024/25 season, rises to fourth place with eight points, just one behind Liverpool, who remain in second.
