A final-year student of Wa T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Wa Amass) is in critical condition after being stabbed during a confrontation with a fellow student on campus Tuesday night.
Eyewitnesses say the incident followed a heated argument between two final-year students—Iddrisu Ibrahim, popularly known as Lincoln, and his friend Hafis, also known as Baayaawa.
Lincoln, a Year 3 Agricultural Science student from Bulenga, allegedly recorded a video of Hafis without his permission. Hafis, a Year 3 General Arts student from Bawku, confronted Lincoln and insisted the video be deleted.
When Lincoln reportedly refused, Hafis allegedly issued a threat to stab him. Witnesses said Lincoln brushed it off and challenged Hafis to carry it out.
The confrontation turned violent when Hafis allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Lincoln in the rib and stomach.
Hafis attempted to escape, but news of the stabbing quickly spread across campus. Some students were said to be mobilising for retaliation when police arrived to de-escalate the situation.
Hafis was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Despite his injuries, Lincoln reportedly staggered from the hostel area toward the school library before collapsing. A female student who witnessed the incident said, “When Lincoln came out, the knife was still stuck in him. Some students removed it before rushing him to the hospital.”
He is currently receiving treatment at the Wa Regional Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical but stable.
Police investigations are ongoing. The school is yet to issue an official statement, but security on campus has been significantly increased to prevent further incidents.
