Anyone in his or her right mind would be questioning why a son of a prominent Brazilian football star would opt to play for a European country.
This is the simple yet confusing story of Iago Silva, the second son of the famous Thiago Silva, who shared his excitement at receiving an England call-up.
Iago, a defender just like his father, captains Chelsea FC’s under-15 team, where he has made plenty of strides in learning the ropes, earning a spot in England’s under-15 team.
Though he didn’t qualify to play for England through birth, as a resident in the country for over five years, he can also represent the Young Lions.
Iago moved to England after his father joined Chelsea in 2020 from Paris St-Germain. Thiago’s wife chose to stay in London to care for their sons, who are enrolled in the Chelsea Academy, while he stars for Fluminense back in Brazil.
I am proud to have received an invitation to my first England camp. The hard work continues,” Iago shared after joining the rest of the England team at St George’s Park.
The teenager can later in his career choose to represent Brazil or even France.
