Romelu Lukaku’s signing by the English club, Chelsea, and their former manager appear to have been the targets of Jose Mourinho’s comments regarding the Belgian.
After parting ways with Chelsea and spending the previous season on loan at Inter Milan due to a rift with the club, Lukaku is off to a good start at AS Roma.
He has scored four goals in five games for Roma, three of them league goals and one Europa League goal, extending his competition-long goal-scoring streak to 12 games.
The Special One acknowledged he would be accountable if the striker failed to score in a post-game interview with DAZN.
“I thought I would be responsible if Lukaku didn’t score. At the very least no one can accuse me of this now. Romelu scores here, in Manchester, at Inter and wherever he goes. Romelu is Romelu, and luckily I don’t know how to destroy his qualities,” he said.
