SCHOOL CONNECT: Nkawie SHTS Banned

Date:

Nkawie Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region has received a two-year ban from all sporting activities.

This follows their involvement in the inter-schools competition violence that took place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in January 2026.

Officials of the National Sports Authority (NSA) in the Ashanti Region had earlier confirmed that 3,955 seats were damaged as violence broke out amongst the participating schools.

The students of Nkawie showed gross disregard for sitting arrangements and forcefully entered the designated stands of Aduman SHS, Osei Tutu SHS, and Kumasi Senior Technical School.

The school will also not participate in any other regional activities, including SRC week, confirmed by the Ashanti Regional P.E. Coordinator, Mr Ben Essien.
