Muslims fast throughout the daytime hours of Ramadan in an attempt to grow closer to God through practicing self-control, gratitude, and even compassion for others who are less fortunate.

Fasting from sunrise to sunset, feasts, and intense prayer are all a part of Ramadan, which begins on many Sunday nights and is celebrated by Muslims all across the world.

The following are the benefits of Ramadan: 
1. Ramadan helps in charity. Ramadan is a month of giving alms to the needy and the poor. 

2. Ramadan brings about discipline. Ramadan teaches tolerance, patience, and discipline. It prepares one for the reward of patience.

3. It breaks bad habits. Ramadan is when Muslims focus on worshiping and denying themselves worldly pleasures.

4. Ramadan teaches how to be thankful. Showing gratitude to Allah is very important, especially in the months of Ramadan. It reminds them to show gratitude to Allah for life and provision. 

5. Ramadan aids in good health. Fasting helps both mental and physical health. It helps one maintain blood sugar and aids in weight loss.
