Africa is reserved two spots in the women’s football division of the Olympics and all remaining 8 nations are eyeing an appearance.

Morocco managed a slender 2-1 victory over Tunisia courtesy of goals by Ghizlaine Chebbak and Fatima Tagnaout, while Alaa Kaabachi gave the Tunisians the consolation and lifeline ahead of the return leg.

In Abuja, Nigeria were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Cameroon in what was a highly tactical affair by the two sides.

In Tanzania, the reigning queens of Africa, Banyana Banyana comfortably cruised past Tanzania with a clinical 3-0 victory courtesy of goals by Jermaine Seopesenwe, Thembi Kgatlana and Hildah Magaia who all ply their trade in Mexico.

In Ghana, The Copper Queens showed great character and strength following the sad passing of their teammate Norin Betani, as they edged Ghana 1- 0 in Accra.
